LIVE FREE Oklahoma joined local running communities to promote a 5K Community Run for peace and gun violence awareness on September 30 at Emerson High School in Oklahoma City. The event brought together the 4:13 Run Club and Dale Stride Run Club around a message that reaches far beyond the finish line.
Movement as community building
A community run creates a simple, visible way for neighbors to stand together. It welcomes people of different ages and backgrounds into the same shared space, turning physical movement into a public expression of care for Oklahoma City.
Centering gun violence awareness at a neighborhood event also keeps the conversation grounded in real communities. The message is clear: every resident has a role in building safer blocks, supporting young people and strengthening the relationships that help prevent harm.
Peace is a shared practice
The partnership between LIVE FREE Oklahoma and local run clubs shows how many kinds of community organizations can contribute to public safety. Athletics, faith, education, business and neighborhood leadership can all become pathways to connection and healing.
LIVE FREE Oklahoma will continue creating and supporting spaces where residents can gather around hope, health and a shared commitment to peace.
